The 21st century is getting revolutionized day by day and the reason behind this is the continual evolution of technologies and innovation. A single idea can modify and re-engineer the whole setup and make the earth a better place to live. Elon Musk's Neuralink Corporation is pivot in transforming and revamping the tech industries.
On 19 July, in a presentation Elon Musk had given detailed information about the neuralink in 2019. Earlier within the same year on the Rogan Joe podcast Musk said, those big announcements are coming and, there it is.
1. What is Neural Link?
The human cognition system comprises two major parts.
- Limbic- where emotions and needs are processed
- Cortex- which involves thinking and planning
Neuralink is that the final third top layer of this super digital intelligence layer augmenting an individual with computers and eventually with AI depending upon how it is being looked. We are already using this layer in the form of phones and laptops and receiving the information on the tip of our fingers.
The constriction of this is how we confederate with that information. The communication between humans and the devices with the help of finger and speech is slow due to the maximum time taking of data transmission, the much faster way to get the information directly is Brain Interface Machine. Neuralink is a protruding attempt with multiple disciplines.
2. How does it work?
Our brain incorporates the incessant firing of neurons all the time in response to the electrical signal sent when we see, hear, talk, or move. When the neuron fires from all these signals, a tiny electrical magnetic field is present. Neuralink is progressed to tap into these tiny electric fields generate a sinus junction in the brain, it is going to elucidate analog data as ones and zeroes to be used in the digital world. The identification of neuron pulses will be accomplished with the help of a tiny thread which is about the one-tenth cross-section of a human’s hair or the size of a neuron.

3. The neuralink chip- n1
The processor of making all these things works are called n1 chip.
- n1 chips read the analog brain signals.
- Chip amplifies, digitized, and process them.
- And then send it to a pod device behind the ear which is going to be upgraded and installed. And everything remains shut off as they removed.
- Neuron fire the fundamental elements of communication called spike within the brain, an algorithm can detect these spikes in real time, decode them and make sense of the vast amounts of data coming in.
- The system can not only read data from the brain but also write data. To do this a signal is run through an electrode near a neuron causing that neuron to fire.

4. Neuralink Execution
Thousands of electrodes are connected with the 4 n1 chip thriving from each chip. Transmission of signal will be consummate through Bluetooth to the device behind the ear called pod which will be regulated by phone. At first, this will work on controlling simple device like phone, mouse and keyboard. The neuralink will show up as regular blue-tooth, keyboard or mouse which will make the people fully independent of their caretaker.
Electrodes present in neuralink which will provide accurate, clearer and more reliable signals for complex applications, tapping into the primary cortex the part of the brain that sends signals to the down to spinal cord on to the muscles to drive the movement. It will assist to start the simple device like mouse and keyboard and it could also read the signals from all the movements and even by speech.
It will be in such way that brain will accept neuralink as part of it. The paper is already released for reading, recording and studying data from brain using n1 chip. It sounds controversial but earlier test on monkey have found successful. Monkey have been able to control the computer with the brain.
The test is ready for human trials under FDA approval for implantation of the device. It includes three stages.
- To understand treat brain disorders, stating with the people with serious medical needs.
- Preserve and enhance ones own’s brain
- Full brain machine interfaces in the future that could even be a kind of app stores for programs that can be download and control the brains, it could be new kind of communication like telepathy or downloading the memories
